english language arts (Reading, Literature, and writing)
In grades seven to twelve, English Language Arts (ELA) helps students improve their reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills using varied texts like stories, non-fiction, poetry, and media. The curriculum promotes critical thinking and analysis by exploring themes, characters, and author intent through close reading. Writing lessons include narrative, informative, persuasive, and analytical styles, focusing on drafting, revising, and editing. ELA also encourages effective communication for discussions, presentations, and teamwork. As students progress, they work with more complex texts and topics to prepare for higher education and everyday language use.
phonics
Phonics instruction for elementary students helps young learners grasp the relationship between sounds and letters, a critical skill for reading and writing. Early education focuses on recognizing letters and their sounds, blending sounds to form simple words, and engaging in activities like letter-sound matching and word building with visual aids. As students advance, the curriculum introduces complex patterns, such as digraphs and blends, through games and interactive lessons. By the end of third grade, students should decode unfamiliar words using phonics rules, enhancing their reading fluency and comprehension.
math (elementary math, pre-algebra, and algebra)
Elementary math introduces basic concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, providing students with essential skills for everyday problem-solving.
Pre-algebra builds on these principles, introducing variables and basic algebraic expressions, which prepare students for more complex mathematical reasoning.
Algebra further develops these ideas, focusing on equations, functions, and inequalities, allowing learners to analyze relationships and solve problems in a structured way.
social studies
Kinder to twelve grade social studies provides students with a foundational understanding of history, geography, civics, and economics. Early education focuses on local communities, customs, and significant historical figures, fostering a sense of identity and cultural appreciation. As students progress, they explore broader themes such as global citizenship, government structures, and economic systems. By the time they reach higher grades, students engage with complex issues like social justice, historical events, and the interconnectedness of nations, developing critical thinking skills and encouraging informed civic participation.
science (k-8 only)
Explore the wonders of science from kindergarten through eight grade, where students engage in experiments, discover the principles of the natural world, and develop critical thinking skills. Students will learn about topics such as biology and earth science through interactive lessons and projects. This curriculum fosters curiosity and encourages exploration, helping young learners understand scientific concepts and their applications in everyday life.
